Tabidatsu Kimi E - My First Collaboration Project!

I got so excited when a very talented singer actually considered to record a collaboration cover with me via YouTube, since I'm only new to this business of covering songs, and admittedly not the talented one. Yes, I do have some recorded covers in my YouTube channel, but those are all demo covers. My intention was for real singers to actually remake them.

So when this girl, TheShinminhyun , invited me to sing a duet with her, I was very hesitant because she's really good (and promise, this is not an overstatement), and I don't feel talented enough to sing with her; When I listened to her cover of Utada Hikaru's First Love, I was so impressed because she sang it with such emotion that I was at point of tears. This was the start of our collaboration [and hopefully, she would also consider me as one of her friends : )].

The song we worked on is RSP's Tabidatsu Kimi E, which was very memorable to me because I was in the hospital due to a minor surgery when I first heard it - that was on 02Dec2011. From then on, I fell in love with the song and even planned to make a sing-along English version but wasn't able to come up with one yet. 

But now, about a year later, I got to sing this song and this time, with a very talented girl from Indonesia. Her real name is Shintia, and she went through a lot of troubles while working on this project, so it took a while before she was finally able to finish producing the track.

Finally, on 09Dec2012, she messaged me with the link of our collab in MP3 format, and I was in awe when I heard her voice because she sounded almost like the real singer (even my niece, Molly Mae, said the same upon hearing her voice). Immediately, I worked on producing the first version of the video, and almost a month later, I have finally uploaded our official video in HD.

YouTube Cover Artist Series: Presenting CKaypop aka Christina ^0^

I'm now on my fourth article featuring my favorite YouTube Cover Artists, and still without the cover remakes for the last two features. I have to admit that these girls are really slaying their KPop covers like a walk in the park, while for me, it's easier said than done, lol. Now, let me introduce you to CKaypop aka Christina ^0^.

This humble 16-year old simply finds happiness in making Kpop covers for the people she loves. She puts her heart into her every video, and most of them are dedicated to people special to her. You'll find her video posted on this blog if you just read on.

Christina reminded me so much of Natsu Dragoneel from the anime Fairy Tail, in the sense that her love for those around her drives her to be the best she can be.

When I invited her to guest in my blogsite, it took a while before she e-mailed me back with her response, and I quote: "OMG I forgot to reply this D': I am so sorry ;~; Ah I feel so bad now D':".

 How are you? What was your first take on this invitation?

- I'm very good, thank you. ^^ A little sick but, that's ok. :3 To be honest, I was shocked when I saw this. ^^ I didn't expect to be chosen for this or even for someone to actually like my covers enough to consider me. ^^;


Can you tell us your real name, or at least tell us how your friends call you?  And where are you from?
My real name is Christina. ^^ My friends usually call me Chri, Christina, or CKay. I am from the United States, Florida, ^^

What academic level are you in now? (HS, College?)

I am currently in my last year of high school. ^^

Did you realize that you're quite popular now in the world of song covers? How does it feel?
Aah, I didn't realize I was popular. :o I don't really feel like I am. ^^ I just feel like I have a lot of friends rather than as my fans or supporters. ^^~

How many subscribers and views do you have so far?

Currently I have 568 subscribers and 126,245 video views. ^^

When did you start doing covers, and what was your first work?
I started doing covers on September 14th, 2011 and my first cover video was Someday by U-Kiss. ^^

When did you start singing?

I started singing maybe 3 years ago, but after a year I stopped and then I started again when I made this channel. ^^

Who are your favorite singers, and what genre of music do you prefer?

My favorite singers are G-Dragon, Block B, U-Kiss, DBSK Lee Hi, 2NE1, Zion.T, DOK2, Jay Park, Christina Aguilera, Ailee, Cher Lloyd, 2BiC, Chris Brown, Usher & HyunA. ^^ I prefer to listen to Korean Hip Hop, Pop & R&B.^^

What makes a CKaypop cover unique among all other covers?
What makes my covers unique? Hmm~ I'd say that out of the other coverist's I am associated with, no one really has my voice and it's different from many. :)
