This time, I'm very proud to present a kababayan. She's a cute Fil-Am girl who I would describe in two words as "Passionate" and "Talented". You'll see it in her covers. This girl won't settle for anything less than perfect, and that's the reason why she also became my favorite YT cover artist. You'll find her video posted on this blog, if you just read on.

How are you? What was your first take on this invitation?
I'm doing good :) Thanks for asking. I was quite surprised when I first saw this hehe.

Can you tell us your real name, or at least tell us how your friends call you? And where are you from?
My real name is Donalyn. Kaye is the nickname that my family gave me, based on my middle name (which I'm not giving away haha). I'm from the Philippines but I live in the U.S. right now. :)

What academic level are you in now? (HS, College?)
I'm in HS.

What else do you do when not working on song covers? Any other hobby or hobbies you'd like to share with us?
I read sometimes. Most of the time I listen to music though. Some of my hobbies are playing the guitar and drawing.

Did you realize that you're quite popular now in the world of song covers? How does it feel?
Haha it feels amazing to know that a lot of people enjoy my covers :)

How many subscribers and views do you have so far?
Currently I have 169 subscribers and about 52,000 views.

When did you start doing covers, and what was your first work?
I started doing covers on Sept. 14, 2012. My first cover was a short version of "Baby Don't Cry" by EXO.

When did you start singing?
I started singing when I was three years old x)

Who are your favorite singers, and what genre of music do you prefer?
My ultimate favorite singer is Celine Dion. As of right now I listen to a lot of K-Pop and the groups that I really love are SNSD and EXO.

What makes an xstarbyul96 cover unique among all other covers?
I think that my effort and hard work can be seen (or I guess heard) in my covers. I really make sure to enjoy the song I'm singing and to always put in 100% energy and effort in them :)

Sen No Yoru wo Koete (Passing Through a Thousand Nights)

Finally, I was able to come up with my first English demo of my favorite anime's theme. The song is from Bleach Movie 1: Memories of Nobody, originally sung by Aquatimez. This song is about a guy who is afraid to get hurt in love, so he decided to keep his feelings to himself, until he realized that it's better to get hurt if it means that the one he loves will know what he feels.

I just paraphrased an already available translation to fit the timing of the song, and tried to stay as close to the original message as possible. Enjoy, minna!

In the old days, an impatient commuter losing her cool and berating a security guard would only have attracted a small crowd. In the technology age, the crowd for such a mundane incident can be a large global audience of social media users and TV viewers.

A cellphone video of a passenger scolding a guard at the Light Railway Transit (LRT) Santolan station went viral on Facebook Tuesday night, getting more than 68,000 shares and 17,000 comments, and aired on TV networks.

The hashtag #AMALAYER, which came from the passenger's pronunciation of "I'm a liar," even trended on Twitter, both worldwide and in the Philippines.In a video sent by YouScooper Gregory Paulo Llamoso, passenger Paula Jamie Salvosa was seen giving a female security guard a tongue-lashing. “I’m a liar? I’m a liar?” Salvosa yelled.

Reached by GMA News, Salvosa said she is willing to resolve the issue with the security guard, though it was the lady guard who first raised her voice."Sabi n'ya sa 'kin, sumigaw, 'Miss, anong problema mo?' Sabi ko sa kanya, you are my problem!" she said. Salvosa added that the guard, identified as Sharon Mae Casinas, grabbed her arm. "Sabi ko, bakit? You have no right to drag me! Nagagalit ako kasi she grabbed me!"

Salvosa said she would not have reacted that way if the guard had treated her well.For her part, Casinas said she asked the woman to put her bag through the X-ray machine for proper inspection. However, Salvosa began raising her voice. Casinas, on the other hand, said she remained calm despite the humiliation.

"Nagkulong po [ako] sa kwarto sa sobrang kahihiyan," she added.

Meanwhile, Salvosa said she is a victim of cyberbullying. She also denied that she owns the Twitter account @paulaharlow, as she has already deactivated her Twitter and Facebook accounts.

"I want to be an example na may karapatan naman tayo. Cyberbullying ito," she said.

Side comments and facial expressions

In a news release, the Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) explained that Casinas was merely performing her duties as she requested Salvosa to put her bag through an x-ray machine. But the latter somehow missed the procedure and hurriedly tried to enter the station. LRTA Officer-in-Charge Emerson L. Benitez said that their security personnel are instructed to strictly implement the “No inspection, No entry” policy. The rule ensures the safety and security of passengers.

Benitez admitted that this may inconvenience passengers. Therefore, security personnel have been instructed to “refrain from making side comments and facial expressions that may be offensive to our passengers.”

Also, all LRT security personnel have undergone a seminar on Quality Customer Service Delivery before their deployment and are given refresher courses semi-annually.

“Ms. Casinas displayed the right attitude expected of a security guard,” said the LRTA, “that is, to be courteous and tolerant in spite of the embarrassment.”

Regardless, Casinas apologized for whatever action that she had committed deemed offensive by Salvosa, said the LRTA news release. — BM/DVM, GMA News

The tandem of Coco Martin and Julia Montes doesn’t end in Walang Hanggan as what the two revealed during the Walang Hanggang Pasasalamat concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last 22 October 2012.

With the phenomenal primetime drama, fans of the two need not feel sad as they are set to star in the Valentine movie offering of Star Cinema next year. And that’s barely three months from now.

The title is yet to be revealed, though, but the two kept the fans’ hopes up by saying that they have already started working on the said movie.

It will go head-to-head with GMA Films’ Valentine 2013 offering that will star Marian Rivera and Richard Gutierrez. For sure, it will be a test of star power for the two movies

Omake 2: A New Coat for Kitsune

Now, here I am writing my second omake article. My previous omake the people who visited my site from all over the world. And this time, it's about my site's new look.

For a refresher, here's what omake means:

This term has become popular on many fanart or anime sites. It is also used on various other web sites. It's a japanese word that translates into "Bonus" or "Extra". It basically involves any material on the site that does not fit into any of the other site's catagories.

I guess I finally got tired of my blog site's old look that I finally decided to change it now. After, I guess, more than four years, I'm finally changing my layout. Too bad I forgot to save a copy of my old layout, and I was only able to save a copy of the old banner. Here's how it looked:

English Cover: FT by Funkist (Fairy Tail Opening 3)

Well, I waited for a long time before I finally come up with an English cover of this well-loved Fairy Tail opening theme by Funkist, thanks to one YouTube user called ChaosSilver25 who gave his permission so I could use his English lyrics, and to TheViviTrance who uploaded the instrumental (which I pitched for my cover to fit my range). Even from the start, I knew this song is going to be very, very, very difficult for me to cover because, number one: I sing ballads, and number two: the original pitch of this song is way above my range.

But as I always say, nothing's stopping me from doing what I want. So even though, I pale in comparison with the original, I will still do this cover.

YouTube Cover Artists Series - Presenting Delusionaal

Youtube username, Delusionaal, caught my attention, first, because she's sooo cute, and also because she does wonderful covers. You'll find her video posted on this blog if you just read on. 

I originally plan to release this next Sunday (11Nov2012) because I can only work on my remake of her cover on a weekend, but as of the writing of this article, she's currently in need of 30 more subscribers to hit 400 subs before she goes on a hiatus. -Haha I'm fine :) My first take? I was shocked I guess haha 'cause I've never done anything like this before!

-My real name is Vivian Yu, my friends call me Vivi but I have other nicknames made by my precious friends that I would rather keep secret (: I'm from Indonesia, but I'm Chinese

-I'm still in High School, (15 years old?) and going to College soon!

What else do you do when not working on song covers? Any other hobby or hobbies you'd like to share with us?
-I study haha and I dance. I guess that's it. And chatting with my friends of course!

Did you realize that you're quite popular now in the world of song covers? How does it feel?
-Mmm I don't really think I'm popular x) I feel honoured and loved and I'll definitely miss covering songs when I leave Youtube at the end of December 2012.

Leave YT? Why? Your fans will miss you (first of that would be me T_T)...

-I'm focusing on my studies now haha. I really hope my time away from Youtube would let me improve my studies since I'm aiming for Yale! I had a vlog of it but I privated it now.

-They vary everyday, but as I'm sending this I have 367 subscribers and 56,936 views.

When did you start doing covers, and what was your first work?
-I started just about a year ago, and my first cover was Shinee's Graze which I did because someone requested it :p

-4 years old.

Who are your favorite singers, and what genre of music do you prefer?
-Taylor Swift and Taeyeon from SNSD, I like ballad a lot 'cause my voice is more to the soft and smooth section but I like listening to Pop too!

What makes a delusionaal cover unique among all other covers?
-I like to twist the songs and not sing exactly like how the artist sings, and I guess another one is that I don't have much vibrato :p Other than that, I'll say my voice is unique and I'm happy to have such a voice :)

Closer- English Cover (Presenting: YouTube Cover Singer, Studio Sylar)

Hi guys. I'm starting a series of blogs featuring my favorite YouTube cover singers, while at the same time, attempting to remake one of their popularized covers. I'm starting off with my first favorite cover singer, StudioSylar. You'll find her video posted on this blog if you just read on.

I first found out about this amazing talent through a YT suggested video. Her video, an English cover of Lyn's Back in Time just happened to keep on showing up whenever I log on, so I finally decided to check it out and the first time I saw her video, I was blown away by her talent.

As I've said, StudioSylar is my first favorite YT cover singer, and because of her, I started to search for more talented cover singers in the YT realm, and was so happy to find a lot of them. Thus, the idea of featuring them in my blog was born. I realized that there could be more people out there who would also appreciate raw talents, and I feel that it's my job to introduce them to these talented people.

I'm from the U.S. and my friends call me Lena.


What else do you do when not working on song covers? Any other hobby or hobbies you'd like to share with us?

Besides singing (which is my favorite hobby ^^) Some of my other hobbies include dancing and learning popular dance choreography; I love to read and enjoy writing short stories; I spend a lot of time with friends and family and we do things together like camping and traveling.


Did you realize that you're quite popular now in the world of song covers? How does it feel?I didn't realize that I was popular on YouTube so I am thankful and grateful for fans like you that appreciate my covers and leave me such wonderful comments. It is all of you that encourage me to keep singing and to share my voice so thank you all so much for your support! I feel blessed to have been able to touch your lives even in a small way.


How many subscribers and views do you have so far?

I currently have 2700+ subscribers and over 1 million views. Again I'm so thankful to my supporters because I never thought in a million years that there would be anyone that would subscribe to my channel.


When did you start singing?

I started singing when I was very young, both of my parents are former musicians and they were the guiding lights behind my venture into music.


When did you start doing covers?

I am into my second year as a YouTube cover artist so I actually started doing public covers rather late.


Who are your favorite singers, and what genre of music do you prefer?

Some of my favorite artists include: Bruno Mars, Michael Buble, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, No Doubt, Maroon5, Black Eyed Peas, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Chris Brown and so much more for American artists.

However, I mostly listen to Kpop these days and some of my favorite artists include: 2Bic, Davichi, KJK, Beast, IU, Sung Si Kyung, Kim Bum Soo, Lyn, Ali, Ailee, 2AM, K.Will, SNSD, Secret, BAP, Lyn, BEG, Jay Park, Big Bang, 2NE1, and again so many other artists.


What makes a StudioSylar cover unique among all other covers?

I'm not really sure if I offer much uniqueness to the table. I really just try to be me and do my best to put my own style into the songs that I cover. Eventually, I hope to master my style and become more consistent.

Umm.. to all of the readers that may read this: All I have to say is don't waste your life doing what people expect you to do. Life is too short. Do what you love the most and do what makes you happy.

Carry On (English Cover) - Faith OST

Finally, Lee Min Ho has another soap and this time, it's an epic drama entitled "Faith" which depicts the love between a warrior from the Goryeo Period and a female doctor from the present day, their love transcending time and space.

I haven't seen it yet (and I will, very very soon), but I'm sure that it will still exceed my expectations of a Korean drama knowing that Min Ho is on board. The first time I found out about this latest drama was only via Youtube while reading some comments on a k-drama trailer uploaded by an account holder I am currently subscribed to, and the viewers have been talking about which TV station has acquired the latest soaps.

So there they were (the fans), flooding the wall with comments about this year's releases, and what caught my attention was this comment about a Min Ho drama called Faith. Out of curiosity, I searched for videos about this latest soap, and found out that it also has promising soundtracks, one of which is Carry On. When I first heard it, I knew it's going to be a challenging song to cover, let alone to translate. Good thing, the video I found has English translations which surprisingly used words that are almost "sing-able", and needed only a few paraphrasing to fit the song's timing.

I originally planned this cover to be rendered first by my niece, Molly, but she's quite busy taking care of her 11 month-old daughter, so I decided to release my version first. So here goes a male cover of Ali's Carry On, from Faith (and if my niece won't really do the cover, I was hoping that my favorite cover singers, either StudioSylar or Fylia Kitahara would do it instead - i have the female version instrumental ready to be sang along with).
